My Why Part 2: The Part I Didn’t Expect
From comfort zone to purpose…and an invitation for you
By Brandi Perossa, Creator of Magic Minutes Club
Okay, honest confession time.
Before Magic Minutes Club….I was very comfortable in my comfort zone.
Like…. really comfortable.
My kids were growing up.
Life was settling into a new rhythm.
And I had quietly entered the season known as:
Empty Nester
The house was more quiet…not too quiet with my
amazing extrovert Sambo and three pups…but quieter.
The calendar had more white space…and for the first time I thought:
Maybe this is the season where I rest.
You know…
Drink my coffee while it’s still hot.
Go to the bathroom…alone.
Watch a show until the end.
And no more cooking…my kitchen completely closed after Brennan moved out. Meaning Sambo survived on Publix chicken salad for a year!
Honestly?
It sounded kind of amazing.
And if I’m being even more honest…I thought maybe I had already run my big race.
Maybe this season was about slowing down, enjoying life and doing a little less instead of a little more.
And I think a lot of us land here at some point.
We look around and think,
okay…I’ve done a lot.
Raised the kids.
Worked the jobs.
Shown up where I could.
Maybe now it’s my turn to coast a little.
But then something interesting happened.
Not a lightning bolt.
Not a burning bush.
Just a simple, quiet yes.
And when I gave God that small yes…
He did what He always does.
He did the rest.
Enter: Tracey and the Brainstorming Sessions
Around this time, I started working with my brand and marketing consultant, Tracey.
And let me just say…
Tracey deserves some sort of medal.
Because what she signed up for was essentially:
A self-proclaimed ADHD, peri-menopausal,
idea-machine who could dream up 47 crazy ideas before lunch.
But none of them related, had any Infrastructure or systems!
Bless her…as they say here in the South.
But what we started doing together was something really beautiful.
We began asking simple questions.
Questions like:
What fills you up?
What lights you up?
What do you naturally get excited about?
And the answers were pretty obvious.
Kids.
And dogs.
My favorite people.
So, I started digging deeper.
What worked when I was raising my kids?
What didn’t work so well?
What do I wish someone had told me when I was in the thick of parenting?
Because hindsight is a pretty powerful teacher.
And if we’re honest, parenting is one giant experiment.
Some things we nail.
Some things…we learn from later.
But what I started realizing during those conversations were this:
Parents today are carrying a lot.
Maybe more than ever.
The world looks different than it did 10-20 years ago, when I was raising little ones.
More noise.
More pressure.
More screens.
More opinions.
And I kept thinking the same thing over and over again:
Parents need encouragement.
Not judgment.
Not perfection.
Just encouragement.
Because we are absolutely better together.
When we show up for one another and
Come alongside one another.
And that’s where I wanted to show up.
Suddenly, that hindsight as a parent fueled ideas for tiny moments of connection that truly matter to our kids…
Ways parents could connect with their kids in simple, meaningful ways.
Nothing complicated. Because I can’t do complicated.
I like simple.
Nothing Pinterest-perfect.
Just quick, real, joyful moments that say:
I see you.
I love you.
You matter.
Moments that fit into real life.
Five minutes before bedtime.
Ten minutes in the car.
A silly question at dinner.
Because connection doesn’t require a big production.
It just requires showing up with intention.
