✨90% of Being a Parent is Just Showing Up

I get it. The pressure to keep the logistics on track and also create an amazing childhood for those kiddos is A LOT.

What you hear from the world:

You need a perfectly mapped out plan.

You need a big, polished strategy.

It’s not actually either of those things.

What I’ve learned after raising three kids, making mistakes, laughing a lot, and looking back with a little more wisdom than I had in the moment…

The magic isn’t usually in the big things.

It’s in the small ones.

Here’s what magic minutes really looks like:

  • The five minutes on the floor building a tower before bedtime.

  • The silly question at the dinner table.

  • The walk around the block when everyone needed fresh air more than another lecture.

You’re doing something powerful in those tiny things.

They help you notice the wonder already inside the ordinary moments.

They might end up being the most magical part of the whole day!

When I first started saying yes to this little idea that would eventually become Magic Minutes Club…

I thought I was building something for parents.

A resource.

A community.

A place where families could find a little encouragement in the middle of their very full lives.

What I didn’t realize at the time was that this whole adventure was also going to teach me a few things.

Run your own race (in life and parenting)

When I first started building this platform (read more on that here), all I could think about as I looked at others ahead of me was…I’m already losing this race.

And yet…I hadn’t even started the race yet.

Have you ever felt that? Like everyone else is already miles ahead.

They already have the audience.

The platform.

The followers.

The polished brand.

And there I was thinking: I’m just now figuring this out.

But then something clicked. A thought that felt like another little nudge from God.

There isn’t a race. (at least not the ready set go race!)

No scoreboard.

No finish line.

No lane assignments.

Just people showing up with the gifts they were given.

What that means for you

If you’re reading this and wondering if you’ve missed your moment, know that you haven’t.

If you’re worried you didn’t do everything right…welcome to the club!

And if you’re in a season that feels uncertain, or different than you expected…that might be exactly where the next chapter begins.

Because here’s what this adventure has taught me:

Connection doesn’t require perfect timing.

It doesn’t require perfect parenting.

And it definitely doesn’t require perfection.

It just requires showing up.

Just like we learned in Modern Family…
